Default Is second parent adoption legal in Michigan?

My girlfriend and her ex had a child when they were together. Her ex girlfriend had the baby, so my girlfriend has no legal claim over her. We're afraid that her ex will keep the child from her and we will never be able to see her.
Is there anything that can be done? Her ex is a little psycho and will do anything she can do to make my girlfriend miserable.

Default If she can prove that the other woman

If she can prove that the other woman is mentally unstable, maybe she can get custody.

Default You are going to have a hard time.

You are going to have a hard time. Contact LAMBDA Legal and get a good lawyer. In order to do a second parent adoption, her ex would have to approve it. Somehow, I don't think that is going to happen. Sometimes, you can fight that if your girlfriend also has a child, they have a sibling bond and deserve to see each other, but I don't know if that is the case.
